The course is based out of our Franklin Falls headquarters on the Winnipesaukee River.
On the first day, we will introduce students to the gear and techniques necessary for whitewater kayaking and assist them with equipment selection and boat fitting on land. In the afternoon, we will then spend time in flat water learning the basics of wet exiting, swimming and basic strokes and concepts.
The second day of the course is spent on Winnipesaukee River developing fundamental paddling skills. Progressing from slow moving water to class II whitewater, we will learn strokes and bracing techniques, practice basic boat handling, eddy-turns and peel-outs, ferrying, water reading, self-rescue techniques, and safe paddling techniques.
In this introductory class students will be fitted for a whitewater kayak. All of our whitewater kayaks are enclosed cockpit style like the Pyranha Scorch or Jackson Kayak Antix.
Start times for this two day course are Saturday at 10 am and Sunday 10 am. We will coordinate with you individually regarding lunch options, lunch is included.
